"What resolutions are you planning on breaking in 2012?"

It's the same old story
It's the same old thing
It's the same old time
When the clock's chime ring
It's the start of the new year
And we know what that means
Let's make some resolutions
Try to wipe the old slate clean
But we also know the ending
Of this resolution-making
It isn't very pretty
'Cause of resolution-breaking
We haven't got the stomach
Motivation or know-how
If we did we wouldn't
Have to resolve to do it now
We'd have the perfect love we want
We'd be at the perfect weight
We would not have that cigarette
We'd never show up late
We'd always finish all our work
We'd never fight with friends
We'd always be so flush with cash
We'd never overspend
We'd clear our email every night
We'd facebook less at work
We'd always get a good night's sleep
Our chores we'd never shirk
We'd live the perfect lives for sure
Such peace, such joy, such fun
We'd never have to feel regret
For things we'd left undone
But perfect we are not at all
Our goals are so unclear
And so we use what e'er we can
To help us through the year
So even if we know inside
We're full of shit and fluff
We'll still resolve to try our best
And for me that's good enough!
